Wont say too much here except that once again, Friday ended an adventure. The plan was playing out perfectly, we had the weather, we had the legs (at least I think we had them), and to the best of our knowledge many had done the bushwhack across Friday, Balsam, Lone and Rocky. Even Komoot let me route those, so how hard could it be to find the entry point? As it turns out, pretty hard. That saddle between Cornell and Friday is all Coniferous and tightly packed. Each entry point we tried quickly went afoul, and I found myself wanting a machete to hack through the dead undergrowth. After our 3rd attempt, I looked at Jed, Jed looked at me, and we then decided to hike back to the base of Slide, and then bushwhack down to the Neversink until the unmarked trail people use to find nice campsites along the Neversink started to finally take shape. That bushwhack was okay at the start but then we moved from Cornell's domain into Friday's domain, and I must have pissed off the Friday gods in a previous life because the bad Friday Karma was rained down on us again as even though the Neversink was running, there was so much blowdown that we had to move higher up Friday to get along, and I think that is just what Friday wanted. We both came out of it with many scrapes and skin breakages which of course the black flies loved. Embrace the Suck! What is the reward you ask? Look at some of the images, and that is the reward.
Ashley, in case you did find this site, I forgot that I had Jed front and center in that shot, so although it is a great shot and you are in it, I can see that it wouldn't be a priority to get a copy :). However, this shot just may end up on my wall of fame. Hope you bade the BBQ on time.
